Touch Sensitivity implements a single point control for a number of factors impacting the algorithms of the taps, swipes, pinch and other gestures. It features the ability to bind a variable number of finger clicks, taps, swipes, pinch and other gestures to functions like Middle Click, Hold Down Both Mouse Buttons, Spaces, Expose, Dashboard, Recent Applications, Tweet, Read Tweets, Google Reader etc. MagicPrefs is a free application for OS X which aims to improve the functionality and configuration options of the Apple Magic Mouse, Magic Trackpad and the MacBook glass trackpad. TLDR if it doesn't work anymore thats it, if it still works then its just a matter of time until it won't. Apple is not likely to replace the deprecated Api's nor provide access to the underlying multitouch technology so that's the end of the line for MagicPrefs and similar software. There are 4 things that constitute MagicPrefs on your drive that you need to remove (this is done by moving them to the trash with the Finder or any other file manager or with unix commands via Terminal.app):ġ- the application itself typically /Applications/MagicPrefs.app (you need to quit it first if it is running, for your convenience it quits itself if you remove its pref pane)Ģ- the preference pane of the application ~/Library/PreferencePanes/MagicPrefs.prefPane (you can also delete it directly from System Preferences by clicking "Remove MagicPrefs Preference Pane")ģ- the support directory that typically includes installed plugins under ~/Library/Application Support/MagicPrefs/ (since the files in this directory are loaded by the application they also can not be deleted if it is running)Ĥ- plists of the application at ~/Library/Preferences/, ~/Library/Preferences/.plist and ~/Library/LaunchAgents/ is more than 5 years old now and is no longer mantained, the functionality it provided was made possible by Api's that are now deprecated and reverse engineered private Apple frameworks. I just want the following action: Clicking with three fingers on a link, shortcut etc. But apparently MagicPrefs finally got bricked with the latest update, so now Im searching for alternatives. Why do i get "Update Error! An error occurred while downloading the update. So for the past years ive been using MagicPrefs to mimic a middle mousebutton on the trackpad. Why do the actions for expose spaces etc have a different behavior than shortcuts ? Why does the dashboard action not dismiss it when shown ? What information do i need to send for a bug report ? Why do i get a "No Shortcut Enabled For Switch Space." message What does the "Your operating system is missing the X keyboard shortcut" message exactly mean ? What does the "Found X applications which could impact functionality" message exactly mean ? The acceleration curve of the mouse is bothering me, can't it be changed ? I am left handed, is MagicPrefs for right hand usage only ?ĭo i have to keep my fingers exactly as shown in the hover images ? How can i to add X shortcut that is already assigned to something in OSX ? Why did my left clicks stopped working after i overridden the "Two finger click" gesture ? I have multiple magic mice, which will work with MagicPrefs ?Ĭan MagicPrefs have any impact on the battery usage ? I can not click anymore, how do i regain control of my mouse ? Why are PPC machines not supported anymore ? Additional infos: After the update I purchased an app called BetterTouchTool as I realized that the previously used MagicPrefs is no longer working on Mojave. After checking Activity Monitor I saw this weird root app eating my CPU and memory. What exactly does "potentially hard to use mean" ? Ive just updated to Mojave and after that I noticed that my system is running very slowly. How do i assign this X action in OSX to a gesture ? Will this or that feature be added to MagicPrefs? What features will be removed from MagicPrefs ? What features will be added to MagicPrefs ?
